There is no doubt that Alice in Wonderland is visually stunning with its vibrant colored flowers, mushrooms, flamingos and everything tea party related. It can provide loads of inspiration for an Alice in Wonderland inspired event. When I found out that it was my daughter-in-law’s favorite movie, I had to incorporate it when I was blessed with the task of planning her bridal shower. We set up the event space with a King’s table or would it be called a Queen’s table in this scenario? Either way, we set up a banquet table which consisted of a long row of rectangular tables that would allow all the ladies to sit together.
I thrifted as many tea pots, cups and saucers as I could find. Although I did end up purchasing four complete teacup sets from Amazon and a few tea pots from TJ Maxx. I used blue tablecloths for the base of the table because that was the bride’s favorite color and lined them with moss covered table runners. I used gold chargers from the Dollar Tree for each place setting and used red napkins folded into roses or tied with flower napkin rings to bring everything together. I also incorporated touches of a black and white harlequin pattern throughout to give the theme a more whimsical look. My son, the groom-to-be, helped me hang flower shaped umbrellas from the ceiling using fishing line and long green vines as a nod to the flower scene in the movie. The umbrellas worked really well because it was in essence, a bridal shower. As favors, I used white handkerchiefs with embroidered flowers on them and made them look like wedding dresses using cardstock and ribbon. We also gave each guest gold keys favors and placed both on each place placed setting. Using my Cricut machine, I cut out the top of each handkerchief dress and Alice in Wonderland themed lottery tickets that were used as a giveaway game. I ordered Alice in Wonderland themed cookies and a cake inspired by the red and white painted rose bushes in the movie. I also added extra touches like different sized mushrooms, flowers and cards. Everything turned out better than I expected and we had a great bridal tea party.
